Pramoda Ramachandra, the brain behind Dosae, is heavily influenced by her childhood growing up in the heart of Bangalore, home to many popular restaurants known for their dosaes. After moving to the USA 25 years ago, Pramoda and her husband Ajay’s quest to find Dosaes similar to the ones from home resulted in some hits and some misses.
Pramoda, who enjoys looking at familiar things with a fresh perspective, decided to create Dosae to bring the Bangalore experience to the Bay Area. The authentic taste of the food comes from family recipes, from trial and errors in the kitchen, new takes on old recipes and from fresh, simple and tasteful ingredients. In every Dosae, Ravae Idly or Maddur Vadae she hopes to infuse a bit of true South Indian Culture and flavor.
Following successful careers as a Dietitian, Hospital Administrator, a first-time restaurateur and owner of a food truck, Pramoda is excited to bring the simple joy of eating a crispy, savory dosae at any time of the day
Fueled by a passion for authenticity and a fresh perspective on familiar flavors, we embarked on a mission to bring the essence of Bangalore to the Bay Area through Dosae. The true taste of Dosae is a result of family recipes, kitchen experiments, innovative twists on traditional dishes, and a commitment to using fresh, simple, and flavorful ingredients.
In every Dosae, Ravae Idly, or Maddur Vadae, Pramoda seeks to infuse a slice of genuine South Indian culture and flavor.
We aim to become a customer favorite through our commitment to quality and authenticity.
Create a fusion of cultures and flavours, bringing a truly unique but enjoyable experience for every foodie out there – all while staying true to our roots!
Drawing inspiration from the founder’s childhood in Bangalore, Dosae is a celebration of traditional Dosaes, Ravae Idlies, and Maddur Vadaes, served with a commitment to authenticity.
Whether you’re a dosae enthusiast or a first-time taster, Dosae provides a culinary journey presented with simplicity.
At Dosae, we have tried to recreate the crepe that is popularly made in the streets of Bangalore, a core memory for many of us who grew up in that city.
